We (I work @ an Acura dealership) jam a plastic wedge below the 2 cam gears and bypass the pin in tensioner method (we use to do it like that too!) Makes it a little quicker, no wheel to remove or tensioner cover. Just make sure you line it up at tdc.

Also, in the video we also changed the exhaust cam gear... we don't understand how a wedge tool would work for that job. We are not aware of this plastic wedge tool. Send us a pic if you have one.

I must of done atleast 25 K series cams and never did it this way at all but wish i did because it prob. would have saved me HOURS and i mean HOURS of work. But i dont need to remove the timing chain cover and all no more either like i did when i first started to do them....what a time killer!! Thanx for the killer time saver!!!!

15 mins to change cams and hours to adjust valve lash:P very good information thanks guys! took me 2 hours to do my cam swaps before and another 2 hours to do lash adjustment im deff going to be trying this method with my friends car!

omg, i literally just failed my first k cam swap ever like 3 days ago because i lost tension on the timing chain and it slipped on the bottom gear. i am so mad right now!!!!! wish i would have seen this like 4 days ago ahhhhhhh!

its all good though, my car is about to be back together now. just watching the cam swap without even taking the chain off the gears made me sick to my stomach. mad props!

I was just wondering if you can tell me what the torque specs for the cam gear bolts, cam gear trigger bolts, and the cam cap bolts are?? I would like to know so I can do it the right way. Thank you

Lazare, we highly recommend you getting a service manual for your engine beforehand. You'll likely need other torque specs to complete the job, and you'll find it handy and reassuring to have this around.

Will this method also work if replacing the OEM tensioner with the Skunk2 tensioner at the same time of the cam swap?

Jorge, yes, it will work for either type of tensioner.
