Found some pictures of my first project car. Shortly after getting my license, I inherited my dad's silver 1975 Datsun 280Z. At the time I was working at a hamburger joint as a bus boy, but when I got the car, I decided to make a career change and got a job pumping gas at the local Chevron station. As boring as pumping gas and cleaning the station might sound, it was one of the best jobs I ever had because I got to mess with my car at night. Because I did a good job at keeping the service area cleaned and organized, the mechanics would leave me with the keys to their toolboxes, giving me access to stellar collection of Snap-On tools that I could use to work on my car in the evenings. Other than headers, cat delete, dual exhaust, and modified throttle body, I didn't do a whole lot of performance work to the car. Changing cams would have required that I switch to side draft Mikuni carbs, and as a highschool kid I didn't have the funds. Eventually that silver car was finished off with a cheap $300 Color Glow West white paint job (which turned out nice because my buddy's mom owned the paintshop and we did the prep work ourselves), and a set of Enkei92 mesh wheels. I pegged the speedo many times in the Z and I'm still alive to tell about it. This car made lots of memorable road trips and general mischief possible, and will always be dear to my heart.

What ever happened to it?

Sold the car in college so I could play with a new EG Civic...and the rest is history.
Funny I don't remember the blue pearl...maybe it was because it was mixed into Nason ENAMEL paint. That was one cheap paint job that turned out pretty nice. Well suited for broke ass high school student.
