HERE COMES SKUNK2 WORLD
In the last 5 years we have seen a dramatic shift in influence from print media to the internet. The internet has become the de facto source of information for import performance enthusiasts. Now enthusiasts no longer need to wait for the latest edition of their favorite magazines to hit the newstands before they can read about news and events that happened 60-90 days ago. With the web, information can be published same day. At Skunk we have always realized that we are a source of an endless stream of content, but alot of it gets lost because we have never had a way to easily share and publish this content.

The realization of how badly we needed a dynamic content management system on Skunk2.com really hit home when I was at an endurance race at Daytona in February with the Compass360 racing team. Each day was filled with different challenges and obstacles that comes standard with professional racing, but is rarely covered by media. Each night as I returned to the hotel, I wish I had a way that I could write about the days events and instantly publish it to the web, but unfortunately I did not. Event hough we had a dynamic content management system on our list of to-dos for the website, there was not enough priority placed on getting the system implemented. And when I was in Daytona I was frustrated that I wasn't able to give blow by blow reports each day.

So when I returned back to Skunk I made the CMS (Content Management System) a top priority. There were several solutions that we could have used, but I had a good friend who was developing a revolutionary piece of Web 2.0 software that I knew would better suit the needs of Skunk2 over the long run. So, we decided to work with him to develop the content management section of his software. The software was actually ready for use back in May, but we were not able to use the software until now because we needed to wait for him to file patent applications before we could use the software publicly.

So whats so special about this new web application? Well the content management is only one small part of it. There are many functions that we have not turned on yet, but we intend to turn on various features at appropriate times in the future. Some of the other features includes: enthusiast log-ins, profiles, blogs, galleries, discussion forum capabilities, instant messaging, private messaging, comments, mark-ups, rating systems, meta tags, rss feeds, and more. In the meantime, you will just have to get used to us posting articles, videos, photo galleries, tech articles, racing news, etc.

The vision we have for our new content management system is to share what we do and what we know with our friends, customers, and enthusiasts in general. We realize that we have the responsibility to educate enthusiasts at all levels and pass down the things we've learned with newer enthusiasts. We want to make learning fun and unintimidating. We want others to be able see and enjoy the things we see and enjoy on a daily basis. We want people to realize that we are enthusiasts ourselves, that after all these years we still possess and undying passion for the import performance industry. Furthermore, we want to use the power of the internet to reach and unite our enthusiast brothers and sisters from all over the globe. We hope we will be able to create a positive place for entertainment and learning.

At this time, we would like to officially invite you to Skunk2.com's dynamic Content Management System...SKUNK2 WORLD.
