Wanna know what Skunk2's mission is? A while back I was reading a book called Tribes. It was written by an author by the name of Seth Godin. In Tribes Godin describes the rapidly evolving marketplace and how it has changed the paradigm by which companies must function to survive. The "tribe" as Godin describes is any community(s) of users and enthusiasts, and ultimately the goal of good companies should be to listen to and support the "tribe." This book puts into words a general philosophy that we embrace and consistently work toward at Skunk. I encourage you to read this book ... Read More »

Datsun 280Z
Found some pictures of my first project car. Shortly after getting my license, I inherited my dad's silver 1975 Datsun 280Z. At the time I was working at a hamburger joint as a bus boy, but when I got the car, I decided to make a career change and got a job pumping gas at the local Chevron station. As boring as pumping gas and cleaning the station might sound, it was one of the best jobs I ever had because I got to mess with my car at night. Because I did a good job at keeping the service area cleaned and organized, the mechanics would leave me with the keys to their toolboxes, giving me ... Read More »

Justice Is Served!
After 5 days of opening arguments, witness testimony, introduction of evidence, and closing arguments, the jury in the Dustin Adler v Mike DiCarlo/Relynet, Inc, the jury took mountains of evidence with them into the deliberation room to try an render a verdict. In the dispute between the two Honda-Tech founders few people have ever heard both sides of the story. Today Dustin Adler will be on the witness stand telling his side before the jury. You can read the transcripts from his deposition testimony to see what he has to say.

Lots of people have speculated about who is right and who is wrong in the dispute between the two Honda-Tech founders; however, thus far only one side of the story has been made public. As I posted in the comments section of my last blog entry, I clearly have my opinion of who I believe and support. My opinion is based on careful review of evidence in the case as well as first hand observations of key depositions.

Ultimately the lawsuit will be decided by a jury of 8 people in Federal Court. But I am making the some of the key publicly available documents available to those who ... Read More »

It's seems like these days it's getting a lot harder for me to find time to add to my blog. With Gwen Stefani's “What You Waiting For” blaring out of my headphones, I write this entry as I sit in an airport preparing to catch a flight to Northern California. You might be wondering what event takes me up to Sacramento? Well, I am going up there to attend the trial between the two founders of the Honda-Tech website, Dustin Adler and Mike DiCarlo. After almost a year and a half since the initial lawsuit was filed, this case will finally see the inside of a federal courtroom in the Eastern ... Read More »

GM vs Honda
Porsches smack of success. Hondas preach practicality. And, according to a recent report, Chevys proudly proclaim of their owners, "I don't use the Internet." ... Read More »

Last week I had the opportunity to go out to dinner with John Naderi, aka “Nads.” You might recognize the name, as he’s the former editor of Super Street magazine, but John has since switched over to the digital darkside and is now with StreetFire.net. It was nice being able to take a break from our busy schedules and have an interesting conversation on the future of digital media over large plates of chow mein and BBQ pork on rice. Somewhere in our conversation John mentioned an old Super Street sticker that I had all but forgotten about. I thought revisiting that ... Read More »

Comment: The billet camshaft core was a failure and released to the public without adequate testing.
Reply: The real story behind this comment has never been told. I will tell the story in a separate blog entry in the near future. I have always been the first to openly admit that the incident being referred to was our/my mistake. This ... Read More »

I thought I would post up this new video as a follow-up to my previous blog entry. This video puts into perspective just how quickly media and communications is changing.

Social media is awesome because it allows us (Skunk) to hear the voices of enthusiasts and engage in meaningful dialogue with both our fans and our critics. These mechanisms help us to better serve the needs of enthusiasts in a rapidly evolving world. We invite and encourage all enthusiasts to join in on the conversation and help make the enthusiast experience both positive and fun.
